Blue skies, cool temps, and no wind!  Doesn't get much better than that!!

I'm still trying to figure out the Sawtooth Ridge that I've heard so much about.....!??! 

 

 

And I'm still loving the aspen this year!!!!

CHICAGO LAKES

Mt. Evans Wilderness

Round-trip Distance:  9.75 miles

Elevation Gain: 2,224

Highest Elevation: 11,733

 

This was one of those where all I could say was, "I can't believe I live in Colorado!"

On my way out I ran into a couple of guys with Boulder pads, who suggested there was tons of boulders out there! 

I ran across this one that looked like fun!

 

This was my end point, the upper lake. Great views of Mt. Spalding and Mt. Evans. 

Beautiful fall colors and just an amazing place to spend an afternoon!

This is a shot of the lower lake and looking back into the valley I just came up. 

The trail is well marked and lots of info on-line so I'll keep it short. 

But I will say this one is totally worth doing!!

Summit Elevation: 11,709 ft

 

I've posted this hike before, but I can't get enough of the aspen this year, and wanted to share!

 

And the views from the top were just amazing!!!!

Autumn Fire Workshop

This was an AWESOME day!!!!

And I can't wait for the next one!!!

 

We learned to make fire cider, smudge sticks. 

We learned about smoke meats and crystals! 

We had an amazing lunch with amazing people! 

 

A day totally worthy of a jump shot!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

Andrew Long

Friends:  Ambi & Brendan from DC

 

 

The weekend started out with a Smith Island Cake from Andrew's mom!! 

Thank you for sending!!!!  It was DELCIOUS!!!!

 

Then Ambi and Brendan arrived from DC! 

We had a great time in Boulder watching the street performers and a great meal at Oak!

 

Of course there were some jump shots involved!  I'm still impressed how high Ambi can jump!!  We had a great hike up Chief Mountain, till the sky turned black and it looked like it was going to pour!! 

 

Perhaps, the highlight of the weekend was the Oddball Comedy Festival at Red Rocks which had an AMAZING line up -- Aziz, Whitney Cummings, Marc Maron, Louis C.K. etc!. 

Lots of laughs that's for sure!!! 

 

Ambi & Brendan, thank you for making the trip out west for Andrew's birthday!  It was so great to see you!!!  And Andrew, happy birthday to one of the most amazing people I know! 

May all of your birthday wishes come true!!
